FTP (Functional Threshold Power) is the maximum average wattage that one can sustain during a 60-minutes time trial. During this test members should work at their highest possible power output. To learn more about FTP click here.
To run FTP test during a class follow these steps:
Step 1: Press on the Start button on the controller to display the in-game menu, and select the challenges icon.
Step 2: Use the Directional Pad to select Fitness Tests > FTP Test. Confirm each option with the Start button.
Step 3: Select the desired FTP Test and press the Start button to run it.
Spivi offers multiple versions of the FTP test:
3 minutes test: This short version of FTP test is suitable for beginner’s class. During this test Spivi computes the average power in Watts units and sets the FTP value to 80% of it. For example: if the average power during this test is 200 Watts, then Spivi will set the FTP value to 160.
5 minutes test: This short version of FTP test is also suitable for a beginner’s class. During this test Spivi computes the average power in Watts units and sets the FTP value to 85% of it. For example: if the average power during this test is 200 Watts, then Spivi will set the FTP value to 170.
8 minutes test: This version of FTP test is suitable for more fit trainees. During this test Spivi computes the average power in Watts units and sets the FTP value to 90% of it. For example: if the average power during this test is 200 Watts, then Spivi will set the FTP value to 180.
20 minutes test: This version of FTP test is suitable for trainees who are highly fit or to professional cyclists. During this test Spivi computes the average power in Watts units and sets the FTP value to 95% of it. For example: if the average power during this test is 200 Watts, then Spivi will set the FTP value to 190.
Note: At any given time you can end a test by clicking the back button.
During the test the following attributes are displayed on the results leaderboard:
- User Information: Profile Picture and Display Name
- Current computed FTP value.
- Average Watts since the beginning of the test.
- Instantaneous Watts.
- RPM.
During the test, if a member makes a progress, his/her test value will be displayed in green to indicate progress.
Step 4: Re-select the active challenge to show or hide the live results during the test.
Step 5: During the test, the system computes the average power output in Watts units. This average will be used at the end of the test to determine the FTP value of each member.
Step 6: When the test is finished, FTP results will be applied immediately to each member. The %FTP displayed on the Power View will be updated and computed based on the member’s new FTP value.
When the test ends, only the result will be displayed.
When class ends, the system will upload the results to the cloud and the FTP value of each member will be updated on his Spivi profile accordingly. The updated FTP value of each member will be used until another FTP test will be performed or a member will manually edit it.
